YouTube User FaustoX shared a new version of Hole classic, celebrity skinwith AI-tampered voices resembling kurt cobain.
The original track landed in August 1998 and peaked at number 24 on the ARIA Singles Chart. The album of the same name debuted at No. 4 in Australia.
FaustoX explained of the reworked track, posted to YouTube last week, “Anyone offended by this version, I really hope you understand that this is not part of Kurt’s or Courtney’s official work. has no other intention than to be an experiment, just like a more elaborate mashup, and they have no hidden motives.
As NME reports, mixed reactions followed, but most fans seem quite upset and confused by the use of AI in the video.
“It’s only the start of the AI era, but it’s already scary and crazy at the same time. I don’t know what to think right now,” one fan posted on YouTube, while another agreed, “It’s scary… the vocal inflections are haunting in many places. To be honest, I kinda feel like sobbing. Another fan said, ‘I don’t know if I like it or if I hate it”.

Meanwhile, on Twitter, the main emotion is rage. “I strongly believe we need to make this shit illegal. Not even kidding a bit,” one user posted. Another called the AI number “copyright infringement, utterly bad taste, poorly executed and subtextual misogyny”, while a poster laid out their feelings as clearly as possible: “This looks like shit”.

This is the latest example of AI coming up with an imaginary version of music featuring a famous singer. A few weeks ago, a AI version of a “lost” Oasis album appeared on YouTube. The project, aptly titled AISIS – The Lost Tapes / Vol.1, was created in the style of Liam GallagherThe voice of is superimposed on the instrumentals.
YouTube’s description reads: “AISIS is an alternate reality concept album where the band’s 95-97 line-up continued to write music, or maybe all of them came together years later to write. a record similar to the first 3 albums, and only now has the main DAT tape from this session surfaced.
“We’re tired of waiting for Oasis to reform, so we’ve got an AI-modeled Liam Gallagher (inspired by @JekSpek) to step in and help out on some tracks that were written during lockdown 2021 for a short time , but much loved band called Breezer.
“It seemed like a perfect match, and we like how some of them turned out. We have a 2nd group of songs coming up if you want to hear more. You can check that here.
