ELIOT, Maine – Acclaimed actress Glenn Close helped transform Home & Garden Television’s backyard into the city set to appear in an episode of ‘Celebrity IOU’ filmed in southern Maine late in the season. ‘last year.
The ‘Fatal Attraction’ and ‘101 Dalmatians’ star, among many other headlines, teamed up with HGTV stars Jonathan and Drew Scott – the twins better known as the ‘Property Brothers’ – for the episode of ‘Eliot.
According to Warner Bros. Discovery, the series “spotlights Hollywood stars who deliver surprise home renovations to the special people in their lives.”
Close, an Emmy, Tony, Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award-winning actress, has been nominated for eight Oscars. She chooses her friend Robin (last name not given), the first-ever volunteer from Close’s mental health-focused foundation, Bring Change 2 Mind, to renovate the garden. Bring Change 2 Mind was formed by Close in 2010 after the actress’ sister, who was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, expressed suicidal feelings.
The episode, which airs Monday, May 29 at 8 p.m., follows brothers Scott and Close’s work to spruce up the homestead with a new accessory living unit inspired by the Maine coast.

HGTV spokesperson Chelsey Riemann noted that the episode was filmed at Eliot from September to November 2022.
The network provided Seacoast Media Group with an advanced screener of the episode, in which Close surprises his foundation’s first volunteer in Eliot with the news that she would be the recipient of a dream makeover.
“Being a tiny part of giving back to you is extremely emotional for me,” Close told her friend at one point.
In the episode, the Scott brothers partner with BrightBuild Home of Portland, which is building the nearly 500-square-foot, approximately 18,000-pound accessory living unit that was delivered to Robin and the yard of his family and placed with a crane. The unit, filled with natural light, has been outfitted by the Scotts and their team with a kitchen, living room, bathroom, and craft room that can double as a bedroom.
“I love its calm, its serenity, its peace, the love that’s in it,” Robin said after the reveal. “It’s warm. It’s inviting. It’s amazing.”
While largely focusing on the interior design of the accessory living unit, Close’s work with the Scotts included the dirty work, as she enthusiastically operated the brothers’ excavator to demolish an existing shed. on the property to make way for the new unit.
“It’s really exciting to see how this will transform their lives,” she says in the episode.
This season of “Celebrity IOU” also includes episodes featuring Kristin Chenoweth, Kristin Davis, Heidi Klum, Taraji P. Henson, Derek Hough, Jay Leno and Emma Roberts, according to the network.
