Agent Box Office Collection Day 4: Akhil Akkineni star struggles to cross double digits, producer Anil Sunkara responds

Akhil Akkineni’s starring ‘Agent’ is slowing as the film struggles to break double digits at the box office. Although directed by Surender Reddy, the film’s story and script were heavily criticized by both audiences and critics.

However, the film managed to rack up a meager amount of around Rs 10 crore at the domestic box office four days after its release. Recently, Amala Akkineni, the mother of lead actor Akhil and a famous actress of yesteryear, shared her views on the film’s response on social media.

Showdown with PS 2

The release of Akhil Akkineni’s Agent coincided with the release of “Ponniyin Selvan: Part 2”, and despite a decent opening, the Telugu film failed to reach audiences on day one. Negative word of mouth led to a sharp decline in film collection over the weekends.

According to estimates, on its first box office Monday (April 1), Agent only managed to collect Rs 75 lakh, taking its total collection to Rs 9.60 crore over the four-day period. The film is reportedly being made on a budget of Rs 70-80 crores.

Producer Anil Sunkara responds amid film’s poor performance

The film’s producer, Anil Sunkara, took responsibility for the failure of the film and posted a tweet on Twitter acknowledging that the project without a related script was a mistake and that there were several issues, including COVID, which affected the production of the movie.
