Celebrity Cruises First Cruise Line to Win Forbes Travel Guide Award

Celebrity Cruises, the brand that revolutionized the cruise industry with its fleet of relaxed luxury resorts at sea, is once again raising the bar by becoming the first ocean-going cruise line to win the prestigious Forbes Travel Guide Star Awards. The recognition is all the more wonderful as Celebrity ships join an elite and exclusive group of less than 20 land-based properties with more than 1,000 rooms worldwide to receive the coveted recognition.

FTG is the global authority on luxury hospitality and the only global rating system for luxury hotels, restaurants, spas and now, the new ocean cruise category. Its professional inspectors travel the world to anonymously rate the best hotels, restaurants, spas and cruise ships based on hundreds of rigorous standards that determine their annual star ratings.

The top five star rated resorts at sea are Celebrity Apex, Celebrity Edge, Celebrity Flora, Celebrity Millennium and Celebrity Summit. The rest of the line’s 15-ship fleet will be rated in the coming year, except for the line’s smaller Galapagos ships.

“We always seek the stars at Celebrity Cruises, whether in our exceptional level of service, our innovative ship design or the highest quality of relaxed luxury experiences we offer on board,” said Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, President and CEO of Celebrity Cruises. “To now be multi-starred is an incredible honor on the part of the Forbes Travel Guide team. It is confirmation that with our resorts at sea, our guests are truly sailing from the best places in the world to the best places in the world. world.

“I would like to congratulate the entire Celebrity family, both at sea and ashore, for this special recognition. I celebrate each and every one of you and thank you for your dedication and commitment to providing the best vacation at sea.”

Hermann Elger, CEO of Forbes Travel Guide, said, “Forbes Travel Guide is delighted to announce that Celebrity Ships are the first star-rated offshore resorts in the new ocean cruise category. Celebrity has met Forbes Travel Guide standards time and time again during meticulous incognito inspections – providing guests with experiences that rival those of the best land-based properties. We congratulate Celebrity Cruises on this spectacular and historic achievement.”

The newly star-rated Celebrity ships represent three of the line’s ship classes, including:

• Edge Series – As cutting-edge as their name suggests, these ships have been hailed as architectural masterpieces, introducing a plethora of industry firsts to a cruise ship, such as an angled resort deck outward, the world’s first cantilevered floating bar known as The Magic Carpet, luxurious new staterooms like the two-story Edge Villas with private plunge pools, and more.

The Celebrity Apex (2021) and Celebrity Edge (2018) remain among the most awarded ships at sea, even being named one of TIME magazine’s “World’s Greatest Places”.

• Millennium Series – Offering a more intimate cruising experience with just over 1,000 cabins each, Celebrity Millennium and Celebrity Summit were part of the line’s largest fleet upgrade in 2019, worth more than $500 million luxurious upgrades.

Mega-Yacht – Celebrity Flora is an exclusive 100-passenger luxury mega-yacht designed specifically and purposefully for Galapagos expeditions and built to blend with its surroundings. Using all-natural materials, it has introduced a state-of-the-art positioning system allowing the ship to stand still without dropping anchors to further protect the seabed and solar panels, making it one of the most greenest sailing in the world. Completely immersing travelers in the destination, all itineraries are led by certified Galapagos Natural Park naturalists.
