Babylon 5 Creator J. Michael Straczynski announces the upcoming animated film’s trailer release window and other information.
On May 12, Straczynski tweeted to give fans an update on the upcoming Babylon 5 Animation Film. Straczynski noted that a final update will arrive in mid-June and will include the release date and plot summary, as well as a trailer and information on how to view the film during its releases. beginnings.
Straczynski first teased the animated film in April, telling fans to “start watching the skies” for updates on “the project we’ve been working on in secret for almost two years.” The message was accompanied by a quote from 2010: the year we made contact implying that “something wonderful” was just on the horizon. Two weeks later, Straczynski announced that the animated feature would come from Warner Bros. Animation and WB Home Entertainment, although no additional information was offered at the time.

When Warner Bros. officially revealed the full cast of the film, titled Babylon 5: The Way Back, it was revealed that several cast members from the original series had signed on to voice their animated counterparts. Babylon 5 is a beloved sci-fi franchise, which began in 1993 with the original series, a space opera starring an ensemble in a series of cosmic adventures on the eponymous space station. The series ran for 110 episodes over five seasons and spawned a franchise that also included half a dozen made-for-television movies and various other media. Straczynski assured fans that the new series would be a reboot rather than a sequel or revival of the original, explaining, “For those asking why not just do a sequel, for a network series like this, it can’t be done because over half of our cast is still stubborn on the other side of the Rim.”
