Box Office Results: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 strong messages second week

by James Gunn Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 box office results continue their strong domestic run, falling just 49% for a $60.5 million sophomore executive. By Deadline, it’s the second-best take for a post-pandemic MCU feature. Domestically, Gunn’s film made $213 million. Worldwide, the photo starring Chris Pratt has racked up a staggering $528.8 million.

For what it’s worth, Guardians has already surpassed the raw lifespan of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Shang-Chi, Eternals, and Black Widow.

Meanwhile, Pratt’s other blockbuster, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, surpassed $1.21 billion worldwide. Domestically, animated success reached $535.9 million. Currently, the Illumination and Universal pic sits at No. 24 on the all-time worldwide charts, just behind Iron Man 3, and has risen to No. 17 on the national all-time charts behind Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and The black Knight.

Three new releases failed to make much of a splash. Book Club: Next Chapter finished third with $6.5 million in its first frame, while Ben Affleck’s Hypnotic and IFC’s BlackBerry grossed $2.3 million and $740,000, respectively.

This week sees the release of Fast X, which should easily top the global box office. Summer is almost here, friends!
