Fast X Box Office opens to $33 million internationally

x fast hits theaters everywhere tomorrow and premieres in the US later today, but the latest installment in the beloved franchise has already made money internationally. The film, which should be the penultimate film in the long saga (or is it?), is currently receiving lackluster reviews from critics. Currently, the film is up on Rotten Tomatoes with a 57% critics score. ComicBook.comSpencer Perry gave the film a 2.5 out of 5 and called it “bloated”. However, the film should make decent money at the box office. According to the deadline, x fast has already earned $32.9 million in Wednesday previews overseas.

x fast opened in 12 markets on Wednesday in addition to 38 other preview markets. The film opened at number one in every market, including China, France, Germany, and Korea. Yesterday, the film earned $18.4 million in China and Korea, $2.1 million in Mexico, $1.8 million in France, $1.5 million in Germany and $1.4 million in dollars in Indonesia.

In China, x fast‘s Wednesday came in 57% below Fast & Furious Gifts: Hobbs & Shaw and 68% below F9. However, Deadline notes that these films opened on weekends and in “a different climate in China”. Deadline writes: “Although China has been a huge market for fast furious franchise, it’s still a swing here given the recent uncertainties.” This weekend, x fast is expected to open in 84 overseas markets. Overall, x fast It follows a $300 million global opening.

x fastThe production of hit a snag early on when director Justin Lin left the project due to a reported “major disagreement” with Diesel. Lin ended up being replaced by Louis Leterrier who is best known for directing The Incredible Hulk (2008) and Now you see me (2013). “Well, it was important for me to bring my flair,” explained Leterrier. “My flair is reality, it’s physics, it’s bringing the actors into the action, never separating action, storytelling and emotion. Everything does a little to stir the pot and bring all the world in this controlled chaos.”
