The first box office figures for x fast are in. x fast made $7.5 million at the domestic box office on Thursday, with projections now indicating that x fast will receive $60 million on opening weekend. The opening weekend figure would put x fast in the no. 7 positions for Quick Saga movie openings sitting below F9 ($70 million in opening weekend and $7.1 million in Thursday previews) and more Hobbs & Shaw ($60 million in opening weekend and $5.8 million in Thursday previews).
Now the debate is about how x fast is doing in theaters, compared to the rest of the franchise. Obviously, the numbers above are not necessarily the largest for The fast saga — but this franchise has rarely relied on national returns to do its job. Internationally, x fast has already opened to over $30 million internationally and is expected to gross $220 million by the end of this opening weekend.
Fast X, the tenth film in the Fast & Furious saga, kicks off the final chapters of one of cinema’s most legendary and popular global franchises, now in its third decade and still going strong with the same cast and… characters than in its infancy.
During numerous missions and against all odds, Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his family have outwitted, irritated and overtaken all enemies in their path. Now they face the deadliest adversary they have ever faced: a terrifying menace rising from the shadows of the past, fueled by blood vengeance, who is determined to break this family and destroy everything Dom loves, for all time. .
In 2011’s Fast Five, Dom and his team took down infamous Brazilian drug kingpin Hernan Reyes and decapitated his empire on a bridge in Rio De Janeiro. What they didn’t know was that Reyes’ son Dante (Aquaman’s Jason Momoa) witnessed it all and spent the last 12 years hatching a plan to exact the ultimate price on Dom.
Dante’s plot will disperse Dom’s family from Los Angeles to the catacombs of Rome, from Brazil to London and from Portugal to Antarctica. New allies will be forged and old enemies will resurface. But everything changes when Dom discovers that his own 8-year-old son (Leo Abelo Perry, Black-ish) is the ultimate target of Dante’s revenge.
