Fast X had a budget of over $340 million, which is a huge improvement over the first film in the franchise.
For reference, The Fast and the Furious, released in 2001, had a budget of just $38 million. According to The Wrap, Fast X’s budget is 70% bigger than its predecessor, F9, which was just $200 million.
With this inflated price, Fast X established itself as the seventh most expensive film ever made.

The cause of the price tag, which includes tax incentive offsets, could be contributed to the increased wages of the entire cast, the general increase in production costs caused by global inflation and fees for testing requirements due to the global shutdown.

When it comes to recouping the money to offset the cost of production, Screen Rant reported that the film will need to earn around 2.5 times its budget to be declared a success, a minimum of $850 million in the world. That shouldn’t be too hard for Fast X to do due to the popularity of the franchise; by contrast, Furious 7 made over $1 billion at the box office, so there’s not too much to worry about.
