Fast X’s Opening Weekend Box Office Is Expected To Be Almost As Big As Its Cast

Boasting one of the biggest budgets in movie history and a cast stacked with Hollywood names, x fast fast forward to one of the best opening weekends ever for the fast furious franchise.


Per Collider, the 10th film to come in the fast furious The series is showing encouraging projections for its first weekend in theaters, with an expected opening tally of around $295 million. According to box office forecasts, Fast X will gross approximately $235 million in 81 international markets and $60 million domestically. If the last straight reaches the number, x fast would boast the third biggest premiere weekend for the fast furious series, with 2017 Fate of the Furious ($541.9 million) and 2015’s Furious 7 ($397.6 million) the only installments to make more ticket sales.

Whether x fast can start strong enough to reach the fast furious the best box office of the series remains to be seen, considering Furious 7, the latest franchise title to feature the late Paul Walker’s Brian O’Conner, topped the list with a worldwide take of $1.5 billion. The last sequel, F9: the fast sagaearned about $10 million more in its opening weekend than x fast should do, however F9 ended up with a respectable but disappointing $721 million, with some citing fan fatigue with the series for its performance.


Fast X begins a trilogy until the end of the series

Originally intended to be the first film in a two-part series finale, x fast will now be the first installment of a final trilogy, as franchise star Vin Diesel recently confirmed while promoting the film. The film is the most expensive title of the fast furious franchise, with a budget of $340 million, a 70% increase over F9. with many insiders believing the inflated figure is an indication of major additions and reintroductions to the movie and the franchise for some time to come. Two of those reintroductions include the reported feature of Gal Gadot as Gisele, as well as the surprise return of Dwayne Johnson as Luke Hobbs after Johnson left the show amid issues with Diesel and other cast members.

The premise of Fast X centers around big bad Momoa, the son of deceased Brazilian drug kingpin Hernan Reyes whom Dom and Brian killed during Fast Five. Bloodthirsty and vengeful, Dante hunts down Dom and his family with the help of Cipher, primarily targeting Dom’s son Brian Marcos (Leo Abelo Perry) for revenge. Momoa has been called the best male villain in the fast furious Rodriguez’s series, with early rave reviews for his performance. Director Louis Leterrier also hinted that several characters may die during the franchise’s final film streak, adding to the drama.

Fast X opens in theaters across North America on May 19.
