Five Nights at Freddy’s Teaser Trailer Teases the Film’s First Sequence

The first official trailer for the upcoming film adaptation of Five nights at Freddy’s arrived.

Shared by distributor Universal Pictures, the teaser opens with a 1980s employee training video for Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, which depicts the establishment as a family entertainment center akin to Chuck E. Cheese or ShowBiz Pizza Place. Cut to modern times, and the true nature of the now dilapidated building as a death trap teeming with murderous animatronic mascots is revealed.

Produced by Blumhouse, Five nights at Freddy’s is set to hit theaters and on Peacock on October 27. The film is based on the horror video game franchise of the same name created by Scott Cawthon. It is directed by Emma Tammi from a script she co-wrote with Cawthon and Seth Cuddeback. “The film follows a troubled security guard as he begins work at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza,” reads an official synopsis. “As he spends his first night on the job, he realizes that the night shift at Freddy’s won’t be so easy to live with.”

To this end, Blumhouse and Universal’s Five nights at Freddy’s follows a very similar premise to the original 2014 Cawthon video game. The film stars Josh Hutcherson as Mike Schmidt, the aforementioned security guard. Additionally, Matthew Lillard stars as William Afton, the founder of Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza and the main antagonist of the video game series. Elizabeth Lail, Piper Rubio, Kat Conner Sterling and Mary Stuart Masterson round out the cast. Meanwhile, the movie’s animatronic mascots are courtesy of Jim Henson’s Creature Shop.
