I am a celebrity… South Africa expelled another campmate – but this time there was a big twist.
Tuesday (May 2), Amir Khan became the third candidate to leave the camp after last week’s shocking double expulsion.
However, Amir’s exit was due to his fellow campers. The previous night, camp had been informed that – in a dramatic premiere for the series – they would be to choose who was voted on next.

That night, every camp mate voted by secret ballot, and in the morning they all felt bad about having to vote against one of their own.
Speaking of the twist, the former Made in Chelsea star Georgia ‘Toff’ Toffolo said, “I’m not happy with my decision. I just felt like I had to vote for someone.” Myleene Klass added: “I think now, did I do the right thing?”
Meanwhile, Janice Dickinson said of the ordeal: “It’s the pitts, it’s the Brad Pitts.”
But (thankfully given the result) Amir had a different feeling, saying, “It’s not a holiday – it’s a competition and there has to be a Legend, a winner.”
Speaking after his release, Amir said: “It was one of the best experiences I have ever had. It’s like being with a new family in South Africa. I will always compare it with my first time in australia.but this one, for me, was much better.
“Great camp, camp mates were amazing. Although I wish I could have stayed a little longer, sometimes what can happen is if you stay longer you can stay longer than your welcome.
“It was just a great experience and I’m just glad I had the opportunity.”
Amir went on to say that what made this experience better than the previous one was his fellow campers, who encouraged him to pass the trials.
“I couldn’t give up trying this time,” he said. “It was a bit of a test for me too. I’m afraid of spiders, snakes, heights – and I managed to overcome a lot.”
As for his fondest memory, Amir said, “Me doing the trials, and in the shopping spree trial [Supermarket Shriek], I pulled out a snake. It wasn’t like I was dealing with just one animal, there were loads of them.
“I literally did it all. This whole trial had it all figured out. I was so zoned out.”
Tonight’s episode also saw EastEnders legends Joe Swash and Dean Gaffney join the camp and immediately face the “Flipping Disgusting” liquor lawsuit.
I am a celebrity… South Africa airs Monday-Friday at 9pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
