For the past two decades, Khan has made it a ritual to release his mega-budget films around the Eid festival and often manages to capitalize on his fandom combined with festivities. The first collections for Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan was among Khan’s weakest Eid releases since 2000. The only film that scored less than the last was released in 2010. Abhinav Kashyap’s Dabangg earned approximately $1.7 million net in India. 2019 film by Ali Abbas Zafar Bharat (with Katrina Kaif) was Khan’s best opener till date with net collections of $5.3 million in India alone.
Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan tells the story of an orphan who protects the people around him and who does not hesitate to kill dozens of them when it comes to protecting his adoptive family of three brothers. In the name of his self-acquired responsibility to the brothers, the hero sacrificed the love of his life. When the brothers fall in love, they choose a woman to bring the hero back to love and marriage.
The film features some big stars from South India, perhaps in a desperate attempt to include a wider audience at a time when Telugu and Kannada films were exceptionally successful in the Hindi-speaking regions of India. . Pooja Hegde was paired opposite Khan in Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan while Venkatesh Daggubati plays his older brother. Jagapathi Babu tries out for the role of the main villain in the film which also stars Bhumika Chawla and Rohini Hattangadi.
The film also has a little tribute to Khan’s first hit – Maine Pyar Kiya. Bhagyashree, who played her heroine in the 1989 film, makes an appearance with her real-life son, actor Abhimanyu Dassani and her husband Himalaya Dassani. Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan is a treat for the typical Salman Khan fan, but not worth much if you’re not one.
