Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is expected to more than double its predecessor’s opening box office

Spider-Man: Through the Spider-Verse is expected to surpass its predecessor in terms of opening weekend earnings. Box Office Pro projected the film to gross at least $85 million domestically within its first three days of release. This figure would more than double the opening weekend revenue of its predecessor, Into the Spider-Verse, which made $35.4 million when it premiered. High-end projections are even more optimistic, suggesting that Through the Spider-Verse could potentially earn up to $105 million domestically in its opening weekend, nearly tripling its predecessor’s earnings. The film’s high screenings are partly due to the success of Into the Spider-Versewhich was well received by critics and audiences.

Spider-Man: Through the Spider-Verse attracted considerable interest due to its extended runtime. The film has been confirmed to have a running time of 140 minutes, making it one of the longest western animated films of all time. Producer Amy Pascal stressed the importance of caring about the characters in a sequel, rather than getting bigger just to be bigger. She believes bells and whistles are only good if you care. Pascal also confirmed that Spider-Man: Through the Spider-Verse is actually a love story between Miles and Gwen. The film’s script will focus on their relationship, which will add emotional depth to the film. It is said to be a continuation of the first film, but with a more personal twist.

“The danger with a sequel is getting bigger just for the sake of growing up. But all the bells and whistles are no good unless you care… This movie is a love story between Miles and Gwen.”

Andy Samberg, who is best known for his roles in Brooklyn nine-nine and as a member of The Lonely Island, is set to join the film’s voice cast.
