He noted that The Kerala Story became the fourth film to break the Rs 100 crore mark this year. The first film this year to open Rs 100 crore this year was Pathaan by Shah Rukh Khan, followed by Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar by Ranbir Kapoor and the third was Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan by Salman Khan.
For the uninitiated, The Kerala Story revolves around the stories of Hindu women from Kerala who were converted to Islam and trafficked to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). The film opened amid controversy and mixed reviews. The film has the backing of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It’s to see if The Kerala Story can replicate the magic of The Kashmir Files at the box office. The film has been accused of propaganda.
Earlier this week, reacting to the propaganda accusations, Adah tweeted, “And for those still calling #TheKeralaStory a propaganda movie, saying these incidents don’t exist even after watching the testimonies of multiple Indian victims,” my humble request, Google two words ISIS and Brides…maybe a white girl tale told to you might make you feel like our Indian movie is real (sic).”
