The Kerala Story Box Office Collection Day 1: Movie Mints MASSIVE Rs 8 Cr, Will It Beat GotG Vol 3?

The Kerala story performed better than Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 in India, according to reports. The Story of Kerala, directed by Sudipto Sen and starring Adah Sharma in the lead, was released alongside James Gunn’s latest spin in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and reportedly topped the film from Marvel Studios. Initial box office collection estimates reveal that The Kerala Story collected Rs 7.5 crore while GotG Vol 3 collected Rs 7 crore. However, trade expert Taran Adarsh ​​has now revealed that The Kerala Story has raised Rs 8 crores.

According to Sacnilk.com, The Kerala Story had an overall Hindi occupancy of 28.48%. While Friday’s morning show had an occupancy rate of 17.47%, the evening show had a higher occupancy rate. Considering the reported collection of Rs 7.5 crore, The Kerala Story performed twice as well on its opening day compared to The Kashmir Files last year.

Speaking to News18.com exclusively, trade experts said The Kerala Story could score an impressive opening but may not sustain The Kashmir Files’ momentum. “If you look at The Kashmir Files, the film has received decent reviews, especially from movie-going audiences. The reviews for The Kerala Story are mixed so far. The story of Kerala cannot go the way of The Kashmir Files at the box office only if moviegoers show it the same kind of support,” trade expert Atul Mohan said.

For the uninitiated, The Kerala Story revolves around the stories of Hindu women from Kerala who were converted to Islam and trafficked to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). The film opened amid controversy and mixed reviews. The film has the backing of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It’s to see if The Kerala Story can replicate the magic of The Kashmir Files at the box office.

Meanwhile, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 is expected to gross Rs 7 crores in India. The last of three installments in the franchise, the film has done well internationally. According to a report by Deadline, the film is expected to gross $110 million in its opening weekend in the United States.
