I’m A Celebrity South Africa 2023 saw beloved former campmates give the ITV juggernaut series another whirlwind.

But the stars, who are put to the test in Bushtucker Trials in the show hosted by Ant and Dec, are downsized because there can only be one king or queen of the jungle.

Andy Whyment, Jordan Banjo, Phil Tufnell, Georgia Toffolo, Paul Burrell, Shaun Ryder and Carol Vorderman were among the celebrities flown to Kruger National Park.

Myleene Klass, Dean Gaffney, Joe Swash, Janice Dickinson, Amir Khan, Gillian McKeith, Fatima Whitbread and Helen Flanagan completed the I’m A Celebrity line-up.

But who still has a chance to claim the throne in I’m A Celebrity 2023? Let’s see who has been eliminated so far.

Who left I’m A Celebrity South Africa 2023?

Gillian McKeith

Gillian and Shaun became the first celebrities to be kicked out of I’m A Celebrity after epically failing a survival challenge.

The task was to remove keys from boxes filled with various creatures to loosen the chains and the Scottish star failed to get past the first.

After its release, Gillian said that her participation in the series had been “a very positive experience”.

‘It was just a different feeling when I went to camp this time,’ she said.

“People just seemed to be really open and wanting to get along. There was no negativity, it was positive from the minute I arrived.

“Everyone wanted to freeze. I could feel it was a very different experience from 2010.’

The nutritionist did not understand the concept of ‘smuggling’ and was twice caught smuggling goods into the camp with a condom and special panties.

Shaun Ryder

Happy Mondays star Shaun was livid as Gillian made a late entry into the South African bush, commenting: “Gillian came in a box, she should have stayed in the box.”

As tensions erupted, the musician and Gillian made amends when he unexpectedly chose her as his partner for the Survival Challenge.

Considering Gillian spent more time screaming than dealing with the task, Shaun may have made the wrong decision, but left with their new found friendship intact.

“I’m a little slow learner, to say the least, so it takes me a while to adjust, but I loved it,” he said as he left the bush.

“While you’re there and doing it, you don’t realize and I thought once I left, god yes, there were some great moments in there. I was over the moon.’

Amir Khan

On Tuesday, May 2, the result of the camp’s first vote to decide who would be eliminated was revealed.

In the end, former professional boxer Amir Khan, 36, was chosen to be sent home, leaving former royal butler Paul Burrell in tears.

Speaking after his exit, the athlete described participating in the show as “one of the best experiences I have ever had”.

“It feels like I got to be with a new family in South Africa. I will always compare it to my first time in Australia, but this one, for me, was way better,” he shared .

‘Great camp, the camp mates were amazing. Although I would have liked to stay a little longer, sometimes what can happen is that if you stay longer, you can stay longer than your welcome. It was just a great experience and I’m just glad I got the opportunity.

Grateful that he overcame his fears this time around, Amir added that he thought his children would be “proud” of him.

Janice Dickinson

After falling in the camp at night while doing the long drop, Janice, 68, was assessed by the medical team on site.

As a precaution, she was taken for further tests to the hospital, when it was judged that to be safe, it was best that she not return to the camp.

In a letter she wrote, the model said, “Dear Beloved Campmates, Never in my life have I had such an amazing experience with all of you animals.” You are new best friends, the loves of my life and I will miss you until I see you again,” she wrote.

“Kisses to you all, I love you and I miss you. Hugs to you, Janice.

In her exit interview, she added, “I could have been second or even won that streak because I was so consistent and physiological with it.” I was just waiting and bidding my time with all of this.

“I did my fair share in getting up, in falling. Put my face in the dirt. I felt like they could have cleaned up my wounds and gotten me back on my way there.

“But production ultimately made the right decision not to fire me. I’m just sad it ended this way.” I think I could have gone back and gone further.

I Am A Celebrity is available to watch on ITV and ITVX.
